🔬 Identify the species — using the real BLAST website

Each tab below is one unknown sample. The DNA "barcode" sequence is real. Copy it, run it on the live NCBI BLAST site, read the hits, and as a group decide the species and what it means — then report to your instructor.

1. Pick a case tab and read the scenario.
2. Press Copy sequence, then Open NCBI BLAST (needs internet). Choose Nucleotide BLAST, paste, keep the database as nr/nt, and click BLAST.
3. Read % identity, query cover and E-value of the top hits; check the gap to the next species.
4. Record your species call and conclusion, then report to your instructor.
